    This American Heart Association course is designed to provide the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in order to deliver a high quality Basic Life support to victims in need. This Course is designed for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in and out- patient settings. The participants includes nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, and students in a healthcare program at a university/college, physical therapists, occupational therapist, behavioural therapist, speech therapist. By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies Provide CPR to victims of all ages Use an AED effectively Relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner Participants must register and collect the BLS Student Manual at least 2 weeks before the course.     Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is a classroom, video-based instructor led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to manage a first aid, chocking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical service arrive. In this course, students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches Adult CPR & AED use. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course completion card valid internationally for 2 years.     Overview: The History and Mental Status Examination (MSE) are the most important diagnostic tools to obtain information to make an accurate diagnosis. The MSE is a psychiatry tool used to objectively, descriptively and thoroughly report a patient’s mental state at the time of interview. It contains primarily information obtained by the healthcare professional. A standardized patient/ simulated patient [SP] is an individual who is trained to act as a real patient in order to simulate a set of symptoms/ problems. We are looking for individuals to be a part of our standardized patient team. There are no particular qualifications to become an SP. We require people from all walks of life, across the adult age ranges and from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We will provide training.     This American Heart Association course is designed to provide the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in order to deliver a high quality Basic Life support to victims in need. This Course is designed for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in and out- patient settings. The participants includes nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, and students in a healthcare program at a university/college, physical therapists, occupational therapist, behavioural therapist, speech therapist. By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies Provide CPR to victims of all ages Use an AED effectively Relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner Participants must register and collect the BLS Student Manual at least 2 weeks before the course.     Overview: The History and Mental Status Examination (MSE) are the most important diagnostic tools to obtain information to make an accurate diagnosis. The MSE is a psychiatry tool used to objectively, descriptively and thoroughly report a patient’s mental state at the time of interview. It contains primarily information obtained by the healthcare professional. The History & MSE are a part of every psychiatric assessment Aim: To gain a detailed understanding of History taking and individual components of Mental Status Examination Objectives: At the end of the course, the participants will be able to: • Demonstrate history taking in a mental healthcare setting • Explain the concepts of normal and abnormal behaviour • Define individual components of Mental Status Examination • Gain an understanding of which components of the MSE can be derived from observation of the patient • Demonstrate Mental Status Examination Target Audience: • Nurses working/ interested to work with a mental healthcare setting • Nurses working in a community healthcare setting • Students – Medical, Nursing, Behavioural Science It is assumed that all participants will have basic knowledge of the nature of mental health.
